Artistic Development Grant
2011 Artistic Development Grant Recipients

Sebastian Lowe
My name is Sebastian Lowe and I’m currently studying Performance Viola with Dr. Lara Hall at the University of Waikato. I am into my fourth and final year. I have completed two undergraduate degrees at the University of Waikato: a Bachelor of Arts majoring in anthropology and German (2009), and a Bachelor or Music, majoring in Performance Viola (2010). I hope for a career as an orchestral musician.
In August this year I will be travelling to Norway to further my studies. I passed an audition earlier this year for the Grieg Academy in Bergen, Norway; and as well as studying viola, I will also be studying early music and Norwegian. The grant I have received from Creative Hamilton, for which I am incredibly grateful, will help support my life in the far north.
Yaniv Janson
I am a contemporary New Zealand artist (www.y-artist.blogspot.com) inspired by the works of Hundertwasser, Matisse and Monet. The people who enjoy my art tell me they connect emotionally to my work. I seek to surprise and having surprised, ask my audience to visualise another era – that of post-climate change. In so doing I aim to help raise awareness about environmental and sustainability issues using aesthetic channels of communication. My last international exhibition Chemins Croisés was in December 2010 at the Galerie Celal in Paris. In April 2011, I was the (youngest!!) guest artist at the Wellington Academy of Fine Arts Members Exhibition. I am very grateful to Creative Hamilton for having awarded me an Artistic Development Grant towards professional development in the USA and Canada and to support my next overseas exhibition taking place in Stanstead, Canada June 2011.
